Java Developer – Web Portal – Barcelona
The Client
Our client is a Barcelona-based start-up with a proprietary vertical search engine that brings Real Estate buyers and sellers together in 12 different national marketplaces. Plans are already in place to expand both new verticals and new regions.
During the 18 months the portal has now been online, the Company has received glowing recognition and several important awards. A new round of financing has recently been closed to support the Company’s onward growth.
The Role
The Java Developer will form part of the front-end team, working in close coordination with the Company’s product managers and designers, and other members of the Company’s young and multicultural team.
Concentrating mostly on Java, SQL, JSPs, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, the primary elements of the role will involve implementing new website features, fixing bugs, writing tests for code, writing scripts - and at all times working with a high degree of independence and responsibility.
Candidate Profile
You are a passionate Java Developer – the geekier the better!
You are happy and effective working in a relaxed but professional environment where the common language is English.
You have been working for more than 2 years on commercial Java web development, and have seen and worked with Servlets + JSP 2.0. Ideally, you have experience with the Spring framework.
You can code JavaScript efficiently, and have working experience with it. You are probably familiar with at least one popular AJAX framework as well.
You have been working with Databases as a Developer, and have a strong knowledge of SQL (any database with a good implementation of the SQL92 specification will work). Ideally you have experience working with NoSQL database or indexing engines like Lucene or Solr.
Knowledge of Groovy + Grails will be a great plus!
