Lead Developer PHP - Madrid

The Client

Their revolutionary website is now the number one online reference point for couples looking for a headache-free way to plan, organise and finance weddings and honeymoons. Amongst a host of other practical solutions, the Company’s flagship service helps brides and grooms to create their own personalised wedding websites to facilitate and coordinate gift contributions from guests.

In line with the Company’s exciting expansion plans and dedication to continual innovation, a vacancy has been created for an experienced PHP Web Development Lead.

The Role

The Lead Developer will make a key contribution to the design and implementation of the Company’s web-based services. While capable of and happy working autonomously, he/she will also take a leading role in collaboration with the rest of the company in innovating and creating outstanding web applications. The Company follows a start-up working model of small teams and short cycles, strongly focused on delivery and quality, so team members are expected to demonstrate a strong sense of priority and a passionate and committed approach to meeting and surpassing expectations. 

Responsibilities

  • Design / develop / debug / scale / maintain web applications based mainly on PHP and MySql
  • Work with Product Managers, Designers and System Architects to choose/design best solutions for the Company
  • Build, lead and mentor a team of highly skilled Web Developers

The Candidate Profile 

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in creating and developing web sites and applications
  • Excellent understanding of web technologies (HTTP, Apache, ningx) and working with Unix/Linux 
  • Internet Business experience with high traffic volume
  • Wide experience in PHP5 and OOP
  • Experience in PHP5 frameworks, ideally Zend
  • Experience in MySQL
  • Experience in the following technologies: XHTML, HTML5, XML, CSS, JS
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks, ideally jQuery
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment 
  • High level of English
  • Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience leading teams
  • Knowledge of development under SCRUM methodology
  • Experience with cloud computing
