The Role
For their Dortmund office the client is seeking an enthusiastic Software Developer to work on the Company’s in-house platform, based on technologies such as CORBA and SOAP and developed as a decentralised System in Java and C++.
Responsibilities
The main responsibility is the development of web-based applications as well as maintenance and further development of existing systems and the development of Enterprise Service Applications in the direct environment. These distributed applications have been developed mostly in Java and JSF using Hibernate, and are almost exclusively based on SQL databases. An understanding of and experience in handling these databases is therefore also part the role.
The job responsibilities cover the whole spectrum of the development process:
• Project planning and execution
• Requirements analysis with the specialised departments
• Choosing, designing and documenting of a suitable architecture.
• Design, implementation and testing of new functions
• Preparation and execution of installations
• Transferring these functions to the support department with subsequent support
• Decentralised work with a number of different people/teams
The Candidate Profile
• University degree in the area of information technology or a related area
• At least 3 years’ work experience in Enterprise Application development or similar either during or after university
• Practical project experience (planning, supervision, execution)
• Experience in designing Enterprise Applications and Integration in an existing system landscape
• Practical experience in compiling requirements lists with various specialised departments
• Good working knowledge/practical experience in Java/JavaEE as well as JSF and Facelets
• Good working knowledge/practical experience in relational Databases and Unit Tests
• Knowledge of the following will be an advantage: UML, Glassfish, PostgreSQL, Hibernate, Linux, Eclipse, NetBeans, Git
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and to share knowledge
• Good knowledge of both English and German, written and spoken
• Distinctive problem solution and communication skills
• Outstanding ability for cross-linked conceptual thought
